We have 15 of these in use at our location and now the second one within a year has the problem that the ear cup no longer holds on the earpiece. This is always the case with the one that doesn't have the micro. Is this a production error?

I can't say whether it's a production fault or not. I had the same problem with mine and it was replaced (warranty).
