The T-Echo is available with different frequencies. I have seen that the 868Mhz but also the 433Mhz are available in the EU. Is there a "best practice" which is best suited for Switzerland or has one of the two frequencies become more established? Or which one is more established in the EU?

433 MHZ should only be purchased if you have a CEPT amateur radio license

What lasantioga writes is not quite right...
433 MHz can also be used without an amateur radio licence.
Between 433.050 and 434.790 MHz, SRD (Short Range Devices) have priority and amateur radio is secondary.
As long as max. 10 dBm (10 mW) and 10% duty cycle are not exceeded, this is absolutely legal.
