The product description states "DisplayPort monitor or projector. USB-C connector with DisplayPort Alt Mode (DP Alt Mode) is required." However, DisplayPort (DP) is not the same connection as DVI.

I think the text is wrong. The cable is available with different monitor connections. I use it on the DVI port of the monitor as it is described.
