The device is new, I enter the programme and set the intensity then it switches off after a minute

it is possible that you have not yet selected a programme (EMS or TENS according to the table in the instructions).
Just setting the intensity is obviously not enough to start a training programme.
And, of course, the pads for transmitting stimuli to the target body parts must be placed in advance.
