good evening dear Cornelia, first of all I hope you have a nice holiday, now to your question, yes I actually meant this Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Zeiss link here: Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Zeiss or am I misunderstanding you now? There is a similar 16-70mm but that would be for the smaller sensor. Send me a link if you mean another lens, maybe I'm misunderstanding you.
Greetings Karl

Good day
Thank you very much for the perfect and detailed answer. Not everyone would do that. I also think the first lens (24-70) is the best for my applications. But what do you think of the slightly more expensive (same model) Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Zeiss?

I use the Alpha 6000, the Alpha 6500 new and the Alpha 7M2 and will soon buy the Alpha 7M3 and have various lenses including many fixed focal lengths as they are sharper. I think what you need and what I would recommend would be a 24-70 mm this focal length is a reporter focal length so to speak and covers pretty much everything from wide angle, to portrait etc. Suggestion here: Sony FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Zeiss good price 899.- at the moment, was over 1000.- a few months ago.
Think for your super camera you must also have a good lens, would be a shame if you buy a sh.... lens that can't reproduce the quality of the camera.
Nevertheless, here is something cheaper:
A 24-240mm that covers a lot and is approx. 860.- not quite as sharp as the upper Zeiss but for private photography and a start certainly a good choice, for myself in the professional field rather not, but still not bad and with the price you are still there. https://www.hawk.ch/sony-fe-24...

Then here's one that I use myself - the 55mm 1.8 for about 850 - a real gem, very good but not a telephoto zoom.

I think one of the first two is better for you, the first one is sharper and has better quality and the second one covers a wider range with 24-240.
As I said, I like to shoot with fixed focal lengths because they are just a little better in quality, but they are also more expensive.
So I can only advise you to spend a little more, in your case I would choose the first one, unless you also want to photograph things that are further away, i.e. zoom in on animals etc. then the second one would be the first choice.

Hope this was of help to you.
Greetings Karl

Dear Cornelia, I bought it for video recordings because it is well suited for smooth zooming with the power zoom switch. If you only take photos, I would recommend another one, because the sharpness is not bad, but there are better ones. Now of course the price is still a question and it is really really good, for what you get, the price is top!
Also a small note, you write that you use it with the Alpha 7r2, which is a full frame camera, but this lens is made for APSC, which means you can attach it because it is also an E-mount, but you can't use the full sensor, depending on the setting it crops down or has about half or less of the pixels available and do you want that, because especially with landscape photography you like to have a lot of pixels and very sharp. If I knew what you were willing to invest, I could certainly make some suggestions.
The stupid thing is that practically the same for full format is over 1000sFr: FE 24-105 mm F4 G OSS lens- https://www.sony.ch/de...
For landscape I would rather take a focal range of e.g. 16-35 mm, there are nice lenses from Zeiss but again over 1000sFr: FE 16-35 mm F4 ZA OSS - https://www.sony.ch/de... alternatively something from Sigma they are also great and if not as E-mount then there is the cheap MC-11 adapter from them. The question is always what other lenses you have at home, I am a semi-professional and of course have a lot of lenses and take landscape photos at the moment with a fixed focal length, because they are always a little sharper anyway.
So for private use it is certainly good for photos, but then you should better have an Alpha 6000 - 6300 or the 6500 because they have the APSC sensor and the lens corresponds to it, i.e. 18-105 then becomes approx. 27-158 mm because of the crop sensor. LG Karl

Hi Cornelia, yes, they are both very good, the 16-35 is special, for example for real estate and landscape photography, the 24-70 which is a little cheaper can also be used for street photography as well as landscape. The 16-35 mm from Sony I find a little too expensive, there are cheaper ones from other suppliers, so I would stay with the 24-70mm that you get for 899.- approx. with that you are certainly better served if you have nothing else in terms of lenses, then I would definitely decide for that.Zeiss is also always really something good!
