Still far too expensive for what it is and then you have to buy the lens hood as well? Canon is trying very hard at the moment to get rid of long-time, loyal customers!

The prices are very, very ambitious. No wonder some people are migrating to Sony (Nikon can hardly deliver anything).
As soon as it is offered at less than 1,100 CHF (which is still very ambitious for what it offers), I start thinking, actually a price of around 800 CHF would be appropriate and everyone would still earn enough from it. Who at Canon came up with this stupid idea of the SA-Control? It doesn't help at all, except for costs and poorer image quality. If I want to blur the image, I do it with software, if at all. What is happening on the camera market at the moment is more likely to lead to even more people who want to take photos migrating to smartphones. Especially in the area of macro, the top smartphones can easily keep up with the most expensive system cameras.
The lens hood is included. But yes, Canon does spend a lot on their L-lenses (RF bayonet).
