Quick question: if you set a schedule and then turn off the WiFi, does the socket still work or does it just not turn on/off?

The Humbli Smart Socket definitely does not manage to switch simple on/off timers automatically without an active internet connection. It's incredible that the configuration of such an expensive device is not stored in the device (at least for such simple on/off timers). Presumably, the device does not have a built-in battery to store the time.

When you think about what can happen here if you want to use it to control an aquarium, terrarium, irrigation, etc. on holiday...

Humbli should actually explicitly point out the massively limited functionality of the "smart" socket to consumers before they buy it: "Only works with an active internet connection. Switching times are only taken into account and executed if there is an active internet connection.

In short: electronic waste - you don't have these problems with normal timers.

It would definitely not be a big problem for the manufacturer that the timers can also be operated without an active internet connection. Just think of the gamers who complain about being forced to go online when playing offline games... It's exactly the same issue and completely justified.

The FAQ does not (yet) answer this. I wrote to support and unfortunately received confirmation that the logic remains on the cloud, which only communicates with the (not) smart socket when actions are performed. In other words: timers+schedulers also need WiFi+internet all the time.
