Question 1) 32 GB seems to me to be tight. Does anyone have experience of how long you can record at a stretch and with the best possible sound quality? Question 2) Can the software be kept up to date? Or is it definitive? Question 3) Do I really need to buy an adapter for direct power supply? Are the charger adapters not enough? Thank you for your information.

Helpful answer

1) With 32Gb you can record approx. 31 hours with the quality 48KHz/24bit (wav, multi file mode - separate track for each microphone connection) or approx. 16 hours 96KHz/24bit (wav, stereo file mode - one single stereo file for all microphones). Note: 31 hours is for use with the existing Zoom H5 microphone only! I assume that with additional 1 or 2 external microphones you will get 16 or 10 hours recording time in multi-file mode.

2) The firmware can be updated, it's easy and you can find instructions and Youtube videos on how to do it. My version is 2.20, although on the Zoom website only 2.10 is available. Strange.

3) A standard 5V/1A adapter will do in any case, these parameters are also on the power adapter from the Accessory Pack. With the Zoom H5, the USB cable is included, you don't need anything else.

The only useful content from the Accessory Pack for me was the "dead cat". There was a promotion Zoom H5 + Accessory Pack together and the price was lower than Zoom + dead cat separately.

Another recommendation: don't put in "no-name" memory cards - they often go unrecognised when you switch on and I confirm. Rather choose a well-known brand like SunDisk or Kingston. I have 32Gb SanDisk Extreme - works flawlessly and costs little.
