Perhaps a somewhat stupid question, but I'll try it anyway: Is it possible to drill a hole of about 8mm through the centre without damaging the electronics of the lamp? Maybe an owner can take a look.

I don't quite understand how you want to do it. The lamp has a base to which it is attached to the ceiling.  My ceiling is approx. 3.20 m and I have attached it directly to the top, which is actually enough for me (bedroom/new building). Where should the hole be drilled?
