Samsung 970 Evo
500 GB, M.2 2280
On my old computer with SATA III interface, I could - theoretically - install this SSD via an adapter (SATA => M.2 2280). Is that of any use to me, or do I have to make do with, for example, a Samsung 860 EVO?
That won't work. The 970 is an NVMe Ssd and not SATA. It is not supported with this adapter. You would have to use a PCI Express adapter. However, these are not supported by every mainboard.
