My new Galaxy A40 shows reception without a SIM card inserted. This means that the signal strength is displayed in the status bar at the top right. This also fluctuates. All other Android devices have always displayed a different icon (crossed SIM, circle with horizontal bar) without a SIM. What signal is displayed on the A40 without SIM? What is the purpose of this display? And what signal or its strength is displayed when a SIM is inserted and the device is logged into a mobile network? Is this also the case for you?
On my mobile phone A 40, the signal strength is also displayed without a SIM card. But the network (in my case LTE) is not displayed. The mobile phone can also make an emergency call (Tel. 112) without a SIM card. So there must be a signal from a provider. (This situation is the same with every mobile phone).
