Dell UltraSharp U3223QE

3840 x 2160 Pixels, 31.50"

Question about Dell UltraSharp U3223QE

My Macbook is connected to the monitor via the USB-C port. However, the HUB functionality does not provide the usual performance. My USB-3 hard drive has very slow read/write values, although the USB ports are supposed to be USB 3.2 Gen2 ?

There are two options in the monitor menu "Display --> usb-c prioritisation": "High Resolution" or "High Data Speed".

The speed that can be achieved depends on the model year/type? of the MacBook.

Older models (or certain newer ones?) only have the HBR2 (Display Port 1.2) system and can run 4K@60 Hz over USB-C at "High Resolution", but then you only get USB 2.0. If you select "High Data Speed", the display will only run at 4K@30 Hz (and not 60 Hz), but with USB 3.x

Newer MacBook models with HBR3 (Display Port 1.3/1.4) can run 4K@60Hz and USB 3.x at the same time.

Unfortunately, the MacBooks only support USB 3.1 and not 3.2, which is why there is no more. It's not the monitor's fault.
