My flat has very high door thresholds (approx. 30mm). Is it possible to place the vacuum cleaner and station in one room at a time and let it work there or would it then have to reconfigure/calibrate etc. each time?

Hello

Yes, this is possible. 
Roomba will create one map per room while cleaning. However, you can also turn off Imprint Smart Mapping in the app and it will clean your room without this feature. 
This will have no effect on the cleaning result.
