Monitor often stays black (no input signal) ???? I have connected the monitor to a Mac Mini M2 Pro 2023 via USB C. Sometimes everything works as intended, sometimes not at all. All variations of the start order of the devices do not help either ... Philips support could not help either :-( Does anyone have the same problem? Or does anyone know a solution?
P. S. If you search the Internet, you will come across numerous articles in various forums complaining about this or similar problems. problems. My impression (although I can't prove it or test it myself) is that Apple hardware and software is only tailored for Apple monitors and a few monitors from manufacturers that develop specifically for Apple (e.g. some newer monitors from LG, Samsung and BenQ). All these monitors have a very high resolution and apparently also firmware that understands Apple computers. There is also something to consider: Apple's operating system cannot scale fonts and windows as Windows does without changing the resolution (except for the Dock). This means that the pixels (from the point of view of the OS) have to be interpolated on the monitor at most resolutions and appear blurred (this also applies to your Philips monitor). This is why new Apple monitors have an insanely high number of pixels, while older Apple monitors have a noticeably low number (because it doesn't work properly in between). Likewise, new Apple monitors don't actually allow for switching a monitor between multiple PCs or Macs (they only have one Thunderbolt input, and Thunderbolt switches don't and probably can't exist). All this should be considered beforehand when designing your workstation, even before you invest a lot of money.
I have the same problem with my (Intel) MacBook Pro 15 2017 with Radeon graphics card, regardless of whether the monitor is connected directly via USB-C or via CalDigit Dock. Previously, with MacOS Catalina, the problem did not exist in the same configuration (I have not tested it with Big Sur and Monterey). In various forums, many users of CalDigit docks also complain about the same problem, as far as I could tell, regardless of the hardware. Therefore, I suspect that it is primarily a problem of the MacOS Ventura ... and that prospects for a solution in the near future are rather bleak ...
Unattractive, but still worth a try: Connect the monitor via HDMI. USB-C is then only used for the camera, mic and connected USB devices. It makes sense to set the sound output via HDMI as well.
