Sonos Roam

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Airplay 2

Question about Sonos Roam

Ist it possible to connect to a Sonos speaker (like the Roam) with Wifi or Airplay without using the App? It would be for an office use and I'd like to make sure everyone can connect rapidly and easily without installing the Sonos App, but with getting the best sound quality (no bluetooth). Also will I be able to split the Audio Stream? I want to be able to only play music on the speaker and not have all the other computer sounds running on it too (Mail coming in, Youtube, ...) Thanks

I have never been able to do it simply via WiFi.
Katerquelle has already explained Airplay and iTunes to you.
The Roam is the smallest of all the Sono speakers and accordingly it is somewhat narrow-bodied in the bass. You should be aware of that.
I use the Roam with the Sonos app and I noticed that switching between WLAN access with the app and access with Bluetooth is a little bitchy on the road. Using the Roam on two different Sonos networks, e.g. at a friend's house, is also a bitch.
However, I have never noticed an audible deterioration in quality when using Bluetooth!

The Roam appears as an Airplay device in the WLan. If you have airplay, e.g. iPhone, windows itunes, you can also stream without an app. At least with Windows computers, all other sounds remain with the computer. I don't know anything about Macs.
