Yes, you are right. The pair I bought have the soft, rubbery curved section at the point of wire connection as in the first picture. This is missing in the second picture, but it is there in the third picture. I recently bought another pair at an airport, and they look identical to the pair I previously bought, so best to just ignore the second picture.
