Is this mp3 player also immediately recognised by the computer as a removable storage device? What is the maximum possible memory card capacity for this device?

Question 1: Yes, it appears as a normal removable disk.
1st question: I don't have a card in it myself. In the technical data it says:
External memory
- microSD (up to 2 GB)
- microSDHC (up to 32 GB)
- microSDXC (64 GB or more)
You are well served with microSDXC 64GB. It is recognised immediately as a removable storage device. With MediaGo software, it's great to compile your music. And with good headphones (Sennheiser, AKG etc. upper price range) it is a music listening experience of the finest :-) Tip. Save the music as a FLAC file on your computer and the Sony and MediaGO will do the rest. Have fun :-)
