is the monitor suitable for a mac book pro (2015) or would that be a bit overkill?
I need the monitor together with a macbook pro 2012 and it works... so it should also work with a macbook pro (2015) without any problems.
The graphics card is crucial. Should support 4k.

Graphics and Video Support
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colours.
Doesn't mean it will work 100% of the time. I also have a MacBook Pro 2015 with which I can NOT successfully set the resolution on a Philipps 4K monitor. You have to try a bit until you find the right setting.
Tip (macOS): Go to Settings under Monitor. Then click on Scaled with the CTRL key pressed. Then you have more options.
Good luck
it runs perfectly on a MacBook Pro for me
