Is the monitor compatible with the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 2017? If so, does it run smoothly and what kind of adapter do I need?

The Macbook Pro with Touch Bar 2017 should be compatible. You will need an adapter from TB3 to HMDI or depending on which cable you want to use to connect the monitor. HDMI Adapter -> Apple USB-C to (HDMI, USB 3.1, USB-C, 7cm)
