To operate an Eve Energy, it makes sense to have some kind of smart home platform. Without this, the connection only works via Bluetooth with a corresponding range restriction. With Apple HomeKit as a SmartHome platform, the WiFi connection is also available. However, this requires a SmartHome centre such as the HomePod or Apple TV 4K. This also enables remote access and automation. Incidentally, the Eve app for Bluetooth control is only available for iOS.
The latest version of Eve Energy is Matter compatible and can therefore also be used for most smart home platforms. However, the Eve Energy in Matter use only supports the Thread network (not WiFi). This means that you need a Thread Border Router (e.g. Apple HomePod, Apple TV 4K) or something equivalent from the Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, etc. world.
