Garmin Edge 540, EU Central + Worldwide Version
Is the Garmin Edge 540 recommended for cycling (road) and are there any empirical values? Which version should I buy for Switzerland?
Purchase Garmin Edge 540, EU Central + Worldwide Version.
I bought this device for my adult daughter and it works just as well as my Edge 1040.
The fact that it doesn't have a touchscreen is not a disadvantage in my opinion.
It is better to buy an Edge 1040. It's more expensive but much easier to use as it has a touchscreen. The 540 can only be operated with buttons, which is very impractical, I still have one lying around somewhere. All are suitable for Switzerland.
Fits well on the road. EU Central is absolutely suitable for CH roads in terms of the map. I recommend configuring the colours. In my opinion, the G540 sucks up a bit of power when you're cycling with navigation. But it's enough for a long day of cycling. G540 is without touch, which is normally not so practical, but it is glove-compatible.
I think the Edge 540 is an excellent device with good value for money. However, personalised programming is time-consuming.
