Is the desoldering pump in this set good or should I buy an additional one?

For private use it is ok. For professional or "production" use it is a consumable.
The desoldering pump is ok. I would test it first and then decide whether you need another one.

Yes, it is pretty good for "normal" use in a soldering set. It will probably be good enough for common desoldering tasks.
