Is the charging speed faster with the USB C-C than with the USB C-A (standard) dock?

Yes, that is the case for me.
I have both versions and a Google Pixel 2 which does not support Quickcharge but only Type C Power Delivery. With the Type C dock, the Pixel 2 charges much faster than with the USB A dock (with an optimal charger). For other smartphones, such as Samsung with Quickcharge, it could be that it doesn't make a big difference because the Quickcharge technology runs over USB-A as far as I know.
