Pulse dialling is the first and oldest dialling method of the analogue telephone network and dates from before World War 2. Pulse dialling has been at least partially replaced by tone frequency dialling. Both, however, will all belong to the electronic scrap tomorrow, because the digital transmission methods can do nothing with either pulse dialling or audio frequency dialling.

Pulse dialling works without an additional adapter from IMF to MWF only for incoming calls.
