Is it possible to use this docking station without a power supply? I need it to connect the laptop to an additional screen

Yes it is. Pulls power from the laptop. Has 2 display ports and works well. Depending on your laptop you might need to close it for both external monitors to work. I use windows

Of course it works without a power supply unit. At least it works for me. It is important to note that this version only supports up to 65 watts, which is too low for some laptops (at least my Dell always complains).

But you should note that the connections are DP (Display Port) and not HDMI. I bought the dock before 2021. That was still ok then. But today I would rather go for HDMI.

To connect just one monitor, a hub with HDMI would probably be the better and cheaper alternative.
