Is it possible to use the KVM function without installing additional drivers/software? I would like to connect business laptops on which the company locks the installation for me as a user.

No, there is no need for a driver. I use the KVM function with a Mbp 2015 and a company notebook (very restrictively configured, no local admin rights).
