Is it possible to make phone calls with the MediaPad via the SIM card? And is it possible to send/receive text messages?
I know, who still does that today ;-) I'm looking for a suitable device for someone who still needs these old forms of communication.
Unfortunately, this is not possible with the IPad's (unless you also have an IPhone), the IPad's SIM compartment (cellular) does not have a telephone app and there is no way to send/receive SMS!
The SIM is apparently only used for mobile data.

Yes, it is possible, it can be used like a normal smartphone.

Yes, that is possible. A phone app is also pre-installed. However, the easiest thing to do will be to use a headset to make calls and place the tablet on a table or similar while doing so, because for normal use "like a smartphone" it is then a bit too big for me personally. All in all, it's a great tablet and I hope you enjoy it if it becomes one.
