Question about Sonos Play:1
Is it correct that the SONOS Play:1 must first be connected with an Ethernet cable? Can the WiFi be used with a SONOS Boost, i.e. without an Ethernet cable or is Ethernet a MUST?
No. Runs directly via WLAN
Runs normally with WiFi. can be operated with cable. Does not have to.
I don't know what sonOS boost is.

You simply have to have at least one Sonos device on the network cable - whether this is a Play:1 or a Boost or the "old" Bridge doesn't matter. I, for example, have two of my 5 Sonos components on the network because two are just fine.
The Boost is especially useful if you live in an apartment/house where Wi-Fi signals have trouble.
