Question about Sony Disc drive for PS5 Slim Digital Edition consoles

Is it also possible to replace the existing drive in the Slim Disc Edition? Or is it really only possible with the Digital I'm wondering because I've often heard that the PS4 drive eventually gave up the ghost, so it might make sense to keep this option free.
