Is a MicroSD card required or is the camera's internal memory sufficient to start using the camera?

There is no internal memory. MicroSD must be purchased.

Yes, it needs one. And a big one at that (not in mm, but in GB). 500GB is quite enough. You also need space on the mobile phone or tablet. But you can't use SD cards. The app is lousily programmed in this respect.
