If your device does not have a 5-pin connector, these headphones are not usable. It sounds totally strange and distorted without them

I would make it a little more precise: Noise reduction only works with the Xperia Z series (as far as I have tried, Z2 to Z5).
On many devices it does not work at all or is distorted.
On some laptops (e.g. Lenovo X1 Carbon 4thGen laptop) it works perfectly as a headset (without noise reduction!).
