If I understand correctly, the software version is not the European version (since we have to go through a third party application to set the phone to French). If we ever reset the phone, do we lose the region unlocking. Thanks in advance

Hello Yes it's true, there is the basic English but if you want the French (Swiss) you need the app that will simply translate the phone. If you reset, you have to put the app back on, but it works quite well and it's easy to use.

Thanks for the info. If I install the European ROM, is the dual sim still supported by the software?

Well, yes it is an important one. You can still use French, without another application. Just configure the language when you start the smartphone the first time or after in the settings. The unlocking is final. It is not possible to lose it no matter what you do (Flash/Custom ROM/etc).
