I would like to use the controller for the PC, is that possible both wirelessly and wired with this controller? (I don't quite see the difference to the other controllers with an extra "wireless adapter").

The wireless adapter is intended for use with Windows 10. However, this only makes sense if you want to connect more than one controller to your PC via Bluetooth. Of course, it is possible that the inputs on the controller are processed a few milliseconds later than wired or via a proprietary adapter.
