I tried to use it with a rented a7siii last weekend but kept getting dropouts even though it was a 4k cable. Do any of you know of a reliable Microhdmi2HDMI cable that works reliably with the monitor and the recording modes of the a7siii?

As far as I know, this monitor is not super suitable for showing 4K material.
What you can try, if you haven't already set it; under HDMI settings, set the HDMI info display item to OFF. On my Sony Alpha 9II, the SmallHD Focus screen goes completely black when I start filming in 4K. (Preview works but as soon as I press the shutter button it goes black).
