I read on a forum that only senseo pods are compatible with this machine, so the so-called E.S.E pods are not compatible. Can you tell me more?

We are very very satisfied with this coffee machine. E.S.E pods do not work. Since we live near Germany, I buy the pods at Aldi (Amaroy brand). Otherwise, I always order from https://www.kaffeekapseln.ch. They have a huge range of pods. They have a huge range of coffee pods for our Senseo. We wouldn't buy another coffee machine - just a Senseo from Philips.

We actually only use Senseo pods...which are not available in Switzerland. That means you have to have them delivered, which is quite inconvenient. The E.S.E. pods certainly don't work, they need more pressure. I'll have to try Gimoka or Cafe Rene....

We have been using third-party pods in addition to Senseo for a long time. I have also had problems with "branded" pods that didn't work or seemed to require more pressure than the machine can deliver (I think it was Lavazza). But Gimoka or Cafe Rene, for example, work perfectly. Have a look at the website kaffeekapseln ch.
However, I would advise you not to use this Select model: it stops right after the process, and the second cup takes rather long because it has to heat up again. My previous model only switched off after a while, so you can prepare several cups quite efficiently. Oh yes, it also doesn't notice when the lid is still open....but it's more than enough for a cup now and then.
