Question about Tokina AT-X M100 AF PRO D, 100mm, f/2.8

I own a Nikon d5300 and a Nikon d5100 camera. Would the lens fit with it?

Helpful answer

Hello Michael,
It seems important to me that the 5000 Nikons do not have a built-in AF motor. The Tokina lens also comes without an integrated motor. So you could only focus manually; if you only use the lens for macro, that's probably less of a problem.

Hello Michael, this Tokina 100mm macro lens does not technically fit the Nikon D5300 and D5100 because these cameras do not have a mechanical distance setting motor that can set the distance on the lens. AF-S lenses are required for autofocus on these cameras. Optically and for practical operation, the Tokina would be excellent, but I would not like to give up autofocus completely. Yours sincerely Andreas

Use it on a D7100 and D500, works perfectly! You are welcome to visit my homepage http://fabianscheuber.ch/portfolio... the picture with the honey bee was taken with the combination of D7100 and Tokina 100mm 2.8. I can also highly recommend it for the Nikon Dx cameras.
Kind regards Fabian

hey michael

this lens is primarily intended for nikon fx. it is compatible with dx but i do not recommend this for macro shooting with aps-c camera. otherwise highly recommended for full frame.
