I only have a VGA output on my laptop. Can I use this product to connect an HDMI projector?

Maybe, but certainly not made for that. Aten is meant for connecting 2 monitors to one workstation.
I chose Delock VGA to HDMI converter with audio Fr. 49.50 and this works. Greetings
