I made the same mistake as other buyers and thought it was the main headset. I had to return it and lost part of my money. You can order the CORRECT headphones on the official Sennheiser website for CHF 289.90.
That's right. You can't use it without an existing transmitter station.
This isn't a question, it's an observation, and it's well-written. I think that fans of this product are now well informed. Personally, I bought this headset because the original was faulty, and as I had the base, and therefore the transmitter, I'm satisfied with my purchase.
