Question about Rollei C6i

I just bought this tripod. But it doesn't come with a hook like the one pictured. I have a spring hook attached to the middle rod! Is it possible to remove it? And if that's the standard now, then the download instructions don't fit either! Because you can't screw the centre column onto the leg to get a monopod. Then you can only do it without the column.
