Question about Aten CS1792, 2 Port USB Hub KVM Switch with HDMI

I have read in various forums that Logitech's Unifying Receiver can also be operated on the KVM switch. Well - it doesn't work for me. So I wanted to upgrade the firmware. But neither my laptop has a serial port nor a wired keyboard. Does anyone have any advice?
