I have a problem connecting the CPU supply on the mainboard (MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC): On the board I have 12Pins (1x 4Pin; 1x 8Pin): "▼ ▼" " ▼ ▼" "▼▼ With the power supply unit there are 2 cables with 2x 4Pin plugs each: ▼" ▼▼ ▼" ▼▼ "▼ ▼▼ "▼ ▼▼ I suppose only one connector (4pin) is not enough for the I9-9900K processor. Do I need an adapter now, if so which one? Or do I need to get a new power supply unit, if so what do I need to look out for? Thanks for the answer for now.

Helpful answer

As a rule, it is sufficient to connect the 8pin (CPU_PWR1) on the mainboard to the power supply unit. The second connection (CPU_PWR2) with only 4 pins is only required for very power-hungry CPUs.

Use both 4-pin connectors together as one cable to be able to equip an 8-pin connector on the mainboard. You can equip the 4pin of the mainboard with the remaining cable, but as already mentioned, this does not necessarily have to be the case.
