I don't know much about it: Does the mouse require a programme or similar to be installed on the PC? Or to put it another way: Can I use the mouse in the office, where almost everything is blocked by IT? Thank you!

No programme needs to be installed. Just plug in the USB and off you go. It should not be blocked by IT as it is a common peripheral device.
