I bought one of these and it seems a slow performer. I had a Xiaomi Redmi 8 Note previously and that does not seem particularly slower. The new phone seems to have difficulty opening webpages quickly.

Hello.
No, I don't have this problem. My device is very fast. 
However, at the beginning, it had a lot of bugs, probably related to Xiaomi's firmware. For example, it would lose all my pictures, then 2 days later, it would find some of them again... So I find the device unreliable. Nothing to do with an iPhone or a Samsung, anyway. 
But the price being lower than the competition, I think you have to accept a lower quality...
