I am using a Mac Book Pro connected to an external LG monitor. Can I plug this camera into the monitor or does it have to be plugged into the Macbook?

If the MacBook Pro is connected to the monitor via Thunderbolt (USBc), this works. The LG monitor acts as a USB hub.
