My understanding from the instructions and the setting options is that the time beforehand is reserved for taking one to five photos. Even if I set that no photos are to be taken and only video is to be recorded, the camera waits the 5 seconds.
This means that the first 5 seconds are lost and then most of the passing animals are simply out of sight again... sigh.
Does anyone know what can be done?

I have had the camera for a year and the video recording is triggered immediately after motion detection. I would perhaps reset the camera once (you need a paper clip, for example, to trigger the process at the bottom of the device). If that doesn't help, I would contact the manufacturer directly.

It is also delayed in my case and most of the time you can hardly see anything of the animal. I don't know what to do either.
