How good is the GoPro Hero 5 for a timelapse? I would like to create a timelapse of a construction site. That is, over several months, with just a few frames per second. Can the GoPro do this by itself, or do I have to use software afterwards? (is listed under timelapse camera). I am also thinking about external power supply (long-term problems?) and retrieving the data via WIFI (GoPro only as AP or can it also connect to a WLAN?). Thanks for your tips

Yes, the Gopro can create timelapse movies without having to stitch the images together on the PC. However, it is not possible to take 'several pictures per second'! 1, 5 and 10 second intervals (possibly others, longer, I don't have the camera in front of me) are possible. The transitions from day to power could be problematic. And the quality of night shots is very 'modest'.

I once installed the GoPro Hero 5 as a timelapse camera in my car for an 8-hour drive. From day to night, always on the cable. What I noticed: The camera gets warm. In the sun even warmer. What does it look like after months? According to various other people, no problem.
What you really have to test is:
Does the Wi-Fi stay on? Then you could fetch data every day without any problems. But: How do you delete the pictures (no idea if it's possible via WLAN & App)?
2. how do you secure the transition to the plug so that it is also waterproof?
3. power supply: Best to pull a cable from the site. (I will do this). Alternatively: solar panel & battery pack?

Unfortunately, there is not really an alternative that is as cheap as a GoPro. The 0815 construction site cameras all have ~720p resolution. The professional construction site cameras are too expensive :)

Have a look here... http://videobearbeitung-in-action.de/gopro-zeit...ählen might be useful. Personally, I am very disappointed with the battery life of the GoPro Hero5. So you will certainly need a different solution if you want to shoot pictures for a longer time.
