Hi I have this graphics card, everything is fine so far, but I find it gets very hot as soon as I play games on Ultra. Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes the computer even switches off due to overheating. I play on a 240 HZ 32 inch 4 K monitor Greetings
This sounds more like the cooling of the housing is wrong. Air must flow in order to be able to dissipate the heat.
Hi mich_mueller!
No, I can't actually confirm the problem on my Hellhound. There are basically several ways to play with the power consumption (and thus the heat) on this card. Firstly, there is the BIOS on the card. Here you have the option of running the card either quieter or in OC (overclocking). There is a small switch on the card itself (right at the back of the slot). Depending on which mode you choose here, the card will run a little quieter and cooler, or louder and hotter.
In addition, the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition also offers the option of OCing the card or even undervolting it (reduces the power consumption of the card, which lowers the temperatures and, if done well, can even provide more performance). There are various tutorials on YouTube that you can watch).
And thirdly, the airflow of your case is of course also important. For example, I myself have the Corsair 4000D with 3 intake fans and 1 outtake fan at the rear, plus two 120mm fans mounted on my AIO water cooling system, which also expel the air. In addition, the entire front of the case as well as the bottom and top are covered with mesh material so that sufficient air can flow in but also escape. The airflow of your case is definitely essential for such a large card with a power consumption of more than 300 watts.
And the question is, of course, what you define as "very very hot" and which temperature sensor of the card you use. My card also runs at peak power consumption and several hours of gaming between 60 and 70 degrees, which corresponds to approx. 90 degrees junction temperature and with which I am perfectly fine. I've never had a problem with the card running too hot, i.e. throttling itself down or even switching off the PC.
I hope this has been of some help to you.
