Absolutely compatible, I have an S23 and it's no problem at all :) works perfectly. And with the USB C it's even the same charging cable

They are compatible. BUT, and there's a big but! Most of the features, shortcuts and display on the phone are not available outside iOS. You'll have fewer options for personalising your listening experience, you won't be able to manage shortcuts as well on Airpods, codecs won't be managed as well and so sound quality will be poorer, and so on.
