No problem with a 2019 model
This is a converter Thunderbolt plug to Thunderbolt 2 socket and vice versa. A Thunderbolt 2 cable is required for connection to an iMac 27 (both sides with Thunderbolt connection). This is plugged into the adapter and the iMac.
