I have the ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero as my motherboard and have no space problems with the Kraken. But I have never heard that a box cooler leads to space problems. At worst, you can place the hose connections so that they don't face the ramslot. Then you will certainly have enough space. It doesn't really matter how you mount the pump, because you can rotate the image by 90 degrees with the software, so that the image is displayed correctly and not upside down, for example.
